The Maharashtra government has invited over 100 corporate houses on Friday to discuss how they can join hands to optimise Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure in the State, which will aid socio-economic development.
The government will be hosting a conference to explore the potential of aligning CSR activities with the development priorities of the State in the presence of Governor C. Vidyasagar Rao.
“The state government has been proactive in addressing development issues in the state. This event is an attempt to join efforts of the government and the corporate world to achieve the desired results by using their CSR funds,” said Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.
He said the government would act as enablers by identifying relevant areas of development and help organisations to invest to facilitate the State’s growth. “We welcome all the corporates whose participation will encourage the collective initiatives to bring socio-economic change in the state of Maharashtra through CSR activities in a focussed and measurable manner,” he said.
Priority areas
The government has identified nine priority areas such as Swachh Bharat, skill development, forests and renewable energy. The government is also planning to form a team that will assist corporate houses to focus on the marginalised sections and maximise impact.
