AIMIM training youth for ISIS: Sena

July 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - MUMBAI:

Accusing the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of engaging in ‘anti-national activities’, the Shiv Sena repeated its demand for a ban on the Hyderabad-based party. The Sena’s Parbhani MLA Rahul Patil brought up the issue outside the state assembly, alleging AIMIM is training youth to join terror outfit ISIS.

Speaking to reporters after the Speaker expunged parts of his speech, Mr. Patil said AIMIM has already trained 100 youth to join ISIS. “They don’t believe in the Indian Constitution and are involved in anti-national activities. The party should be banned with immediate effect,” he said.

This is not the first time that the Shiv Sena has demanded a ban on the Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM. In 2014, the party had backed the demand for a ban by Congress MLA Praniti Shinde, daughter of former Union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. The Sena mouthpiece, Saamana , had said Ms. Shinde "said what the people of the country have always wanted to speak about”.

AIMIM legislator Waris Pathan said the Sena has been targeting them due to their own prejudices. “It is ridiculous to say we are training youth for ISIS,” he said.
