Mumbai: A month after the ‘halla bol’ agitation in Vidarbha, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is set to take its protest to Marathwada region on January 16.

“The government has failed to curb the inflation. Farmers are not getting their due for their produce, and on the contrary, the same produce is being sold at higher prices by traders. The government has failed on the financial front as the loans have risen to ₹4 lakh crore,” said NCP’s Maharashtra unit president Sunil Tatkare.

Mr. Tatkare said, “This phase of the agitation will end on January 31 at Aurangabad where our party president Sharad Pawar will address the rally.”

The NCP launched the first leg of its agitation in November in Vidarbha. A joint rally of the Congress and the NCP was organised in Nagpur on December 12, which was addressed by Mr. Pawar and the Congress’ Gulam nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha. “The farm loan waiver is still unresolved. The government is presenting false figures in an attempt to save its face,” he said.
