A sessions court on Wednesday granted bail to corporate lawyer Jahnvi Gadkar, accused of killing two people and injuring four while driving drunk.

Ms. Gadkar has to execute a cash bail bond of Rs. 30,000 and a surety of the same amount. She will have to be present at the police station for inquiry as and when required.

A magistrate's court had earlier rejected bail to Ms. Gadkar, booked under section 304 II for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

While the prosecution opposed her bail saying she was likely to tamper with the evidence, the defence contended there was no reason to believe she had made such an attempt and her capabilities and profession should not be held against her.
