MU to hold first polls in 2 years

Mumbai University will hold elections for the first time in two years. Polls were temporarily held off by the Maharashtra Universities Act, 2015.

The varsity will now hold polls as per the Maharashtra Public Universities Uniform Statute 2017. Of the 78 members on the Senate, the chief decision-making body, 39 will be elected and the rest nominated. Representatives from graduates, teachers, university teachers, principals, and management will find place on the Senate. Polls will also be held to the management council, the academic council and the board of deans. The final voters list will be published on July 10.

Registration for voters (Form A) and prospective candidates (Form B) can be made on an independent website to be established by the University by June 1. Graduates can register from June 1 to 30, and teachers, university teachers, principals and college management can register from June 5 to July 4.
