The accused arrested in connection with the disappearance of Assistant Police Inspector Ashwini Jaykumar Bidre were produced before the Panvel court on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody till January 2.

The police officials also applied for permission to conduct narco test, brain-mapping and polygraph test on the accused: Police Inspector Abhay Kurundkar and Dyandev Dattatrey Patil alias Rajesh alias Raju, the nephew of BJP leader Eknath Khadse. Further arguments are slated to be heard on December 21.

Bhanushali, Mr. Kurundkar’s lawyer, said, “These tests cannot be conducted without the accused’s consent. We will oppose this demand. After the court gives an order on the tests, we will apply for bail at the Alibaug sessions court.”
