‘Mastermind’ of attack on Trinamool workers arrested

In a joint operation by the West Bengal and the Mumbai police on Saturday arrested the alleged mastermind in the Raidighi attack case in which four Trinamool Congress workers were killed.

Farooq Mollah, ‘karmadhaksha’ of the CPI(M)’s panchayat samiti was arrested from a safe house in Malvani , a western suburb of Mumbai.

“Post the incident the West Bengal police had put his mobile phone numbers on surveillance and one of the numbers was tracked to Malvani in Mumbai. They then got in touch with us and a trap was laid and Mr. Mollah was arrested from the safe house on Saturday morning,” a senior Mumbai police officer told The Hindu .

Mr. Mollah was produced before a local court which granted five days of transit remand to the police.

On June 14th , four Trinamool party workers were killed in the Khadi gram panchayat area of Raidighi while they were returning from a party meeting.
