Man killsguest in tiff over alcohol

A resident of Kalamboli was arrested on Tuesday after he killed his neighbour’s guest for allegedly misbehaving with his wife while demanding alcohol on Monday night.

The police said 35-year-old Ashok Mohan Bhide, a resident of Poynad in Alibag, came over to his relative Balu Chavan’s house at Sector 1 in Jadhav wadi on Saturday to celebrate the Ganesh festival.

After the immersion ceremony on Monday night, Mr. Bhide asked Mr. Chavan where he could get some alcohol. Mr. Chavan told him to check with his neighbour Balasaheb Maruti Dhotre, who had a party on at his house.

When Mr. Bhide called on Dhotre, he turned him away. Mr. Bhide then demanded Dhotre’s wife to served him some alcohol. Irked over Mr. Bhide’s behaviour Dhotre attacked him with an iron rod. He was declared dead on admission. at the hospital.
