The body of a young man was found lying along the tracks near Umroli railway station on Saturday evening. The death has brought the total number of accidental deaths reported between Saphale and Dahanu section of Western Railway this year to 28.

The Palghar railway police said at around 5.30 p.m. the station master at Boisar railway station alerted them about a man lying along the tracks. The station master had been alerted by the motorman of a passing train. The man died before he could be admitted to a hospital. The body has been sent for post-mortem. An identity card recovered from his person showed the name as Prathamesh Bagal, a resident of Dhanane Nagar in Boisar (West). “We have conveyed the information to the Boisar police who are trying to confirm the information,” said a officer at Palghar railway station.

Motormen of trains, operating on the route before the incident took place, are being contacted to give further information about the circumstances leading to the death, said an officer.
