Navi Mumbai: The Nerul police are on the lookout of four men who attacked a 28-year-old man near Juinagar station and robbed him on Saturday night.
A case was registered only on Monday after Satyajeet Devray Bhagat, a resident of Juinagar, gained consciousness, and was able to talk.
Mr. Bhagat, an employee with Airtel in Thane, used to take a shortcut from bushes outside the station to reach his residence at Darshan Society in Sector 25.
“The area is isolated and the bushes are of at least five feet tall. Some use the path between Juinagar and Shiravane village in Nerul. Even if something happens in the day, nobody will come to know,” said an officer from Nerul police station.
At around 8.15 p.m. on Saturday, Mr. Bhagat was attacked by four men with knives. The complainant tried to fight back, but the accused made away with cash and mobile phone, which amount to ₹21,000, and his identification cards.
After getting severely injured, he managed to come to the road and sought help from passers-by. He was taken to a private hospital. “We reached the hospital, but he was not in a state to speak. Hence a case could not be registered. On Sunday, he was shifted to J.J. hospital. On Monday, we recorded his statement and registered a case,” said sub-inspector Sadanand Sonkamble from Nerul police station.
