Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Tuesday arrested five people and seized Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) worth ₹70 lakh from them. Officials said the accused were supplying the party drug mostly to college students and call centre employees.

LSD, known as acid, is a psychedelic drug that induces effects like altered perception and awareness of surroundings and hallucinations, and is widely used in the rave party circuit. It is ingested by being swallowed, placed under the tongue or through injections.

“Officers of our Kandivli unit laid a trap near Mind Space locality in Malad. One accused was arrested and four others were arrested based on the results of his questioning,” said Shivdeep Lande, Deputy Commissioner of Police, ANC. Sources said the accused procured the LSD from abroad and were selling it at ₹5,000 per ‘dot’.

The main accused, Arbaz Taj Khan (20), is a resident of Lokhandwala and supplies drugs to college students and call centre employees along with his cousin brother Farhan Ali Khan (26), who has also been arrested. The other three are Amay Modi (22), Chirag Jain (24) and Laxman Rajan (25). Officials said Modi works as a producer with a television channel.
