Leptospirosis claims 12 lives in Mumbai

Twelve persons died of complications related to leptospirosis after the heavy spell of rain last month in Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials said on Tuesday. A 12-year-old girl was one of the victims.

A total of 21 cases had been reported.

Most of the victims were residents of Malad, Malvani, Kandivli and Borivali areas, which had experienced heavy waterlogging after the rain on June 18 and 19.
