The Jharkhand government and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) have inked a pact to begin vocational training in its higher education programmes.

The Employability Excellence with College Education and Learning (EXCEL) programme aims to train 50,000 youth in the State over a period of 4 years and help trainees secure jobs in their area of specialisation. Modelled on TISS’s National University Students’ Skill Development Programme, EXCEL will engage students in practical training.

“Jharkhand is the first State to implement the programme at such a massive scale,” said Ajay Kumar Singh, Secretary, Department of Higher and Technical Education & Skill Development.
