‘Issue notices to eateries that don’t follow rules’

Municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta has asked officials to issue notices and initiate action under the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Major Act, 2006, against establishments that fail to implement fire safety measures.

He issued the order during his monthly review meeting on Thursday. Officials were asked to inspect kitchens of eateries and consider cancelling their licences if they were found flouting rules. Officials have also been asked to monitor the eateries on a regular basis.
