Iqbal Kaskar, the younger brother of Dawood Ibrahim, has given the police three locations in Pakistan as Dawood’s last known addresses. The Thane police will pass on the information to the relevant agencies.

Mr. Kaskar and two others was arrested on Monday for allegedly extorting a Thane-based builder. On Wednesday, a jeweller registered a similar FIR against him. The Thane Police Crime Branch is interrogating Mr. Kaskar on the extortion racket and his interactions with his fugitive brother.

“Mr. Kaskar has claimed in his interrogation that he has not spoken to Dawood for ages. When interrogated further, he named two or three places in Karachi where he said Dawood was staying back when they were in touch,” said a senior officer who interrogated Mr. Kaskar.

The police are including this information in a report to be sent to central intelligence agencies. It has been the Indian government’s stand for long that Dawood, who is wanted in India for his alleged involvement in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, is now hiding in Pakistan. However, the Pakistan government has consistently denied this.

The officer added that Mr. Kaskar has been uncooperative regarding his involvement in the extortion cases, despite the prolonged interrogation.

“Mr. Kaskar keeps saying that it was Mumtaz Sheikh and Israr Ali Sayyed (the other two people arrested in the case), who were extorting people in his name, and that he had no idea about it,” the officer said.

The police have also received preliminary information about some more real estate agents and small-scale businessmen from Thane acting as informants for Mr. Kaskar.

“Mr. Kaskar’s network in Thane city is larger than Mr. Sheikh’s and Mr. Sayyed’s. We have inputs regarding some more people working for him, providing information about potential targets. We are verifying the inputs before we act against these people. We expect a few more arrests over the next two days,” another officer said.

Meawhile, Iqbal Parkar, Mr. Kaskar’s brother-in-law, and Yasin Hussain, his alleged drug supplier, were released after intensive questioning on Wednesday. They have been asked to present themselves for inquiries whenever they are called, said police officers.
