A Special CBI court on Friday rejected the bail application moved by Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in Sheena Bora murder case.
The application was filed on medical grounds stating her health is deteriorating, for which the court has allowed her private medication and treatment. The court also asked for her quarterly health report by a panel of doctors and ascertained diet restrictions. The court will however, pass a detailed order in due course of time.
On February 5, Indrani had filed a bail plea stating that she needs to recover her health to face the trial. The 17-page application filed on February 5 states that Indrani is suffering from ‘chronic small vessels ischemic changes’, as a result of which the supply of oxygen to her brain may get interrupted, resulting in a brain stroke.
Indrani’s bail application is filed under section 437, of criminal Procedure code, giving option of bail to a woman on her health ground.
On March 18, the Central Bureau of Investigation had objected to her bail stating that she was on path of recovery, and all necessary medical facilities and treatment was being extended to her within the jail premises.
Indrani, her current husband Peter Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai are in jail in connection with murder of her daughter Sheena whose partially-burnt body was found in the forests of Maharashtra's Raigad district.
