Gang held for robbing cab drivers

Mumbai: The Samta Nagar police have arrested four people, who allegedly robbed drivers of Ola and Uber at knifepoint. The four, identified as Salim Sheikh (21), Imran Khan alias Chuha (22), Abdul Sheikh (26), and Hajimullah Sheikh (38), are residents of Jogeshwari (East). They are drug addicts, and used an autorickshaw to commit the crimes.

Senior inspector Anil Mane said, “Last month, we received a complaint from a cab driver that four people looted him at knife-point when he was taking a nap near Dattani Park at Kandivali. The accused made away with three mobile phones and ₹7,000 in cash.”

Police inspector Ravindra Ranshevre said, “We got a tip-off about Salim and arrested him. The others were arrested later. They have confessed to their crime.”
