Mumbai: A popular floatel in the sea near the Bandra-Worli Sea Link was involved in an accident on Friday.

All the crew aboard were safely rescued.

According to the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), at 3 p.m., Ark Deck Bar was on its way to Bhaucha Dhakka to be anchored for the duration of the monsoon. “The hull of the floatel was ruptured due to choppy waters, and water started seeping in. There were 14 crew members, and no guests as Friday was the last day of operations before monsoon,” Vikram Kumar, chief executive officer, MMB, said.

The crew contacted its control room, after which the company sent another boat for help. All the crew members were rescued, and taken to the dock, while the floatel remained tilted in the water.

“The floatel has all the requisite permissions, and on Saturday, the company will send divers to plug the rupture. In case plugging is not possible, it will have to be towed to the dock,” Mr. Kumar said.
