Firemen worried over cell

Mumbai: Station officers on Monday met with senior fire officers to voice their concerns over the recently-formed fire safety compliance cell. “They need to decide what they want us to do – fight fires or conduct checks,” said a fire officer, who did not wish to be named.

They also highlighted that while senior officers issue NOCs to establishments, juniors are expected to ensure compliance. “How can a junior officer flag an issue?,” said another officer.
