Recreating hits a tough act: Bakshi

August 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - New Delhi:

Indeep Bakshi, the singer behind hit songs like ‘ Saturday Saturday ’ and ‘ Tere Liye ’, says it was difficult to recreate the 2000 hit ‘ Kala Chashma ’ in the Sidharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif-starrer Baar Baar Dekho .

Amar Arshi had sung the old song but Badshah, who has composed the new version, has included fresh beats: rap by Bakshi and Neha Kakkar’s vocals.

Bakshi says, “It was a new song for me and really difficult because the track we have taken was produced in 2000 and it was a huge success so we had to recreate the music similar to the old one, which was even more challenging.”

“We also added a girl part in it,0 which is a new twist. It was really tough for us to recreate the old song because we needed to find all the old loops. I have not done any kind of hard-core rapping in the song. It’s a slow rap and the kind of singing which is easy to understand. I’m not making something which people need to try and try.”

When asked if the musicians get it easy by reinventing old hits, Bakshi said, “The benefit is that people already know those songs so we don’t need to put it in their mind. Indeep will next be singing in Devang Dholakia’s upcoming action erotic thriller, Tina Lolo . — PTI
