Director Ashutosh Gowariker has said that actor Pooja Hegde was the apt choice to play the lead opposite Hrithik Roshan in his upcoming film, Mohenjo Daro .
Gowariker said, “While scripting Chaani’s character, I envisioned a new face. I wanted someone without an image or perception attached to her. Someone who depicted grace, dignity, strength, and a girl-like naive innocence.”
He said it was his wife, Sunita, who was keen on casting Pooja. “It was Sunita who first noticed Pooja in a TV commercial. She immediately felt Pooja had a screen presence. She was extremely quick on the uptake, took direction very well and was completely aligned with the character that I had in mind,” he added.
The epic adventure-romance is set to release on August 12.
