Mumbai: Taking a serious note of the delay in declaration of results by the University of Mumbai, Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao on Tuesday directed Vice-Chancellor Sanjay Deshmukh to declare them by July 31.
The Governor had a detailed discussion with the V-C in presence of Additional Chief Secretary of Higher and Technical Education Sitaram Kunte and Governor’s secretary Venugopal Reddy at Raj Bhavan.
The V-C was told to submit a detailed report in accordance with the provisions of Section 89 of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act, explaining the strategy and road map for declaration on time. Mr. Deshmukh will also have to set up a war room wherein he along with other university officials shall monitor the progress. The V-C was further directed to submit a daily progress report to the government and to the Chancellor’s secretariat.
The Governor also directed Mr. Kunte to depute a government representative to monitor the progress.
The Governor expressed concern that of the 477 examinations conducted, results of only 51 examinations had been out. Of the 51 examinations, results of only 23 were declared within 30 days, while the results of 18 examinations were out within 45 days. The Governor also said that the delay could hamper the career of students.
