Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday appealed to industrialist Ratan Tata and actor Madhuri Dixit Nene, whom BJP national president Amit Shah met with on Wednesday, not to fall for the lies being propagated by the BJP and Mr. Shah.

In a letter to the industrialist, Mr. Nirupam wrote, “Ratan Tata, I beseech you to understand the truth and not fall for the lies of Amit Shah. I am sending a booklet to you which clearly identifies and explains that the BJP has not been able to do anything for the people of this country in the past four years. Mr. Tata, you have always supported secular forces all your life and clearly the BJP has spoiled the secular fabric of our country.”

He wrote to Ms. Dixit Nene: “As an artiste, you can understand how different forces work together in the creative space as well and this has clearly suffered during the BJP rule. We should work together to stop these forces from gaining ground.”

Rahul to visit city

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will meet booth-level workers during his visit to the city on June 12. The meeting will mark the start of the party’s preparations for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Mr. Nirupam said, “The Congress has always believed in working ground up and Rahul Gandhi believes in connecting with the hardworking members of our party who work relentlessly at the booth level.”

This visit will lay the foundation for Mumbai Congress’s plan of action for the elections. Nearly 15,000 party workers will attend the booth-level meeting, which will take place at the Goregaon Exhibition Centre.
