Mumbai: Claiming that his fight is not against the government, but against the system, former BSF constable Tej Bahadur Yadav said on Monday that he will stage a one-day protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to urge the government to act against corruption in defence forces.
Mr. Yadav was dismissed from the BSF after he posted a video about the poor quality of food being served to soldiers.
In Mumbai to attend a function to honour soldiers who have lost their lives, organised by Mumbai Congress president Sanjay Nirupam, Mr. Yadav said that all Indian governments are responsible for the condition of soldiers, and added that he does not support any political party.
“My colleagues in the Army will be there at our protest and they will explain each and every corrupt practice in the defence sector. My fight is not against any religion or political party, but it is against the system,” he said.
Mr. Yadav said he and his colleagues were ready to launch an agitation similar to the one undertaken by activist Anna Hazare a few years ago. “I am not going to take help from any political party, nor from any leader. We are here to change the system and we will do it with our strength,” he said.
Commenting on the beheading of Indian Army personnel in Kashmir, Mr. Yadav said, “If one Indian jawan is killed, kill one general of Pakistan. Killing Pakistani jawans is of no use. Surgical strike on general’s houses is the answer, not the ones done on the eve of elections,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Nirupam criticised the treatment given to Mr. Yadav by the Indian government.
