Mumbai: A constable with the Railway Protection Force shot himself with his service revolver at the Mumbai Central Railway Station on Saturday night. Railway police officers said the incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday at the post office centre on the station premises.

An officer said the constable was posted on guard duty at the cash locker at the centre when he allegedly shot himself. He was rushed to the Jagjivan Ram Hospital near the station and subsequently shifted to the Nair Hospital.

The railway police are making inquiries to find out the reason behind the constable’s extreme step. Railway Police Commissioner Niket Kaushik confirmed the incident.
