Navi Mumbai: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a bribery case against sub-inspector Swapnil Waghmare attached to CBD Belapur police station on Wednesday.

The complainant’s cousin is an accused in a motor vehicle theft case with the CBD Belapur police. According to the complainant, Mr. Waghmare, who was the investigating officer in the case, demanded ₹2.5 lakh to make the case “easy” for the accused.

“Mr. Waghmare was accused of demanding the money in return for not seeking more days in police custody for the accused in court,” an officer said.
