CM: government not suppressing bribery allegation

May 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 03:01 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said his government is committed to fighting corruption and will take the probe into the bribery allegations against the staff of Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse to a logical end.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had last week arrested Gajanan Patil, who claimed to be a personal assistant of Mr. Khadse, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 30 crore over some land allotment. Denying that there is any pressure from the government to suppress the matter, Mr. Fadnavis said the government will not interfere and will let the investigation take its own course. “The ACB has been tracking the issue for the last three months, and has an independent mechanism to deal with such matters.” Mr. Patil was arrested on a complaint of economist Ramesh Jadhav, who wanted an NOC from Mr. Khadse’s office.
