Mumbai: Ahead of the working committee meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, top leaders held a meeting on Wednesday in an effort to chalk out a plan to counter the Opposition attacks on party ministers over corruption.

Sources said the BJP has decided to back its leaders by launching a fierce attack on the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), by digging out scams during their 15-year rule.

The government has come under fire over corruption charges against Minister Prakash Mehta, MSRDC managing director Radheshyam Mopalwar, and Shiv Sena Minister Subhash Desai.

Though Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced an inquiry in the Mr. Mehta case, the Opposition is adamant for his resignation. Mr. Fadnavis has rejected the demand in the House.

Mr. Fadnavis will lead the attack. “We will ask whether the Congress and NCP has any moral right to talk on corruption as people have rejected them on very same issue,” said a senior party leader.
