Ahead of polls, BJP ministers told to submit status reports

August 23, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 12:14 pm IST - MUMBAI:

Following Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah’s diktat of ‘shat pratishat BJP (100 per cent BJP),’ the State unit of the party has asked all its ministers to start preparations for the local body and the civic polls, likely to be held in December 2016 and February 2017.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday night chaired a meeting with all BJP ministers, asking them to submit reports of political scenario in their districts. While the guardian ministers will handle their respective districts, the party has appointed ministers in-charge for districts for which ally Shiv Sena has a guardian minister.

“The CM and other senior leaders from the party attended the meeting. The ministers have been assigned with tasks regarding the party’s performance in the local body polls. Their performance will be assessed by the leadership. We want results,” said a senior BJP minister. The status reports will be presented at the BJP’s core group meeting scheduled be held in Delhi on Wednesday.

A Sena minister, who didn’t want to be named, said his party is ready to face any possible battle with anyone. “Every party has a right to expand its base and we have no problem with that. Even we have a strategy that will be used for our growth. Whether to join hands for elections or not will be decided by top leaders of both parties.”
