Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has blatantly retracted his earlier stance on corruption only because he wants to come to power. Addressing a Meet-the-Press organised by the Calicut Press Club here on Saturday, the Congress leader said the factional wars led by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Pinarayi Vijayan and Mr. Achuthanandan would only escalate in the coming days. Mr. Achuthanandan was now keeping mum about the allegations of kickbacks in the SNC Lavalin deal and the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. A veteran Marxist leader who fought corruption is now silent when corruption took place in his own party, he said.
