‘Vijayotsavam’, the learning enhancement programme implemented by the district panchayat to support academically backward students will be relaunched as ‘Educare Comprehensive Education Scheme’ in the next academic year. A decision in this regard was taken at a recent meeting chaired by district panchayat president Babu Parassery.

Special training

For the implementation of the new scheme, all head teachers of schools will be given special training by May 25. Resource persons from the District Institute of Education and Training will handle the workshops for teachers. Giving individual care to the academically backward students will be the priority under the scheme.

Monitoring committees

Project coordinators say the scheme will offer benefits to all students from pre-primary schools to high schools in the district. Monitoring committees will be formed in all the schools for the effective implementation of the scheme. Facilities such as modern labs, libraries and other amenities will be introduced in backward schools.

‘Varavelppu’

Efforts are also on to come up with special training programmes for tribal students and those showcasing outstanding performance in studies.

This year, the freshers to various schools will be offered a grand welcome under the ‘Varavelppu’ initiative. The support of three-tier panchayats will be sought for the implementation of the new project.
