The Director of Public Instruction on Tuesday suspended K.K. Murali, a teacher at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Koyilandy, after he was found to be distributing to students books with distorted versions of history here recently.

This follows a report submitted by the Deputy Director of Education, Kozhikode, after a preliminary inquiry by the District Education Officer, Vadakara.

According to sources, the suspension is pending further inquiry.

The books were meant to be reference material for the Sanskriti Jnana Pareeksha, an exam conducted by Vidya Bharati, a frontal outfit of the RSS.
