A student from the Government Engineering College West Hill in Kozhikode has bagged the Best Volunteer Award in the Technical Cell section of the National Service Scheme (NSS) for this year. V. Anusha, an eighth semester engineering student of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation brought the honour to the college this year.

This is for the fifth year in a row that a student from the college has won the State honour for outstanding service, said Abid Tharavattath, NSS technical cell district coordinator and former programme coordinator of the NSS unit at the college.

According to him, the leadership qualities, participation in various national and State camps and her active involvement in various progressive socio-cultural initiatives made her eligible for the award.

Ms. Anusha received the award from the High Court judge B. Kamal Pasha during the State-level anniversary ceremony of the NSS Technical Cell organised at the Royal Engineering College, Thrissur, on Sunday.
