Samastha directive on Mujahid, Jamaat meets

January 12, 2018 01:29 am | Updated 01:29 am IST

The Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama, an influential association of Sunni Muslim clerics, has warned its functionaries against participating in meetings organised by the Mujahid movement or the Jamaat-e-Islami.

The decision was taken by the apex body of the Samastha which met here recently. The meeting, chaired by Sayd Jiffri Muthukkoya Thangal, reiterated its commitment to the solidarity of the Sunni community. A release said the meeting condemned the triple talaq Bill brought in by the Union government, terming it “unconstitutional” and not practical. A meeting of legal experts and scholars would be called soon to discuss the issue.
