Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Kerala prantha karyavah P. Gopalan Kutty has claimed that the Sangh Parivar has no role in the heckling of Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury in New Delhi and the attack on the CPI(M) office in Kozhikode.

He told reporters here on Wednesday that a section of the media and CPI(M) leaders had launched a campaign pointing fingers at the Sangh and its affiliated organisations after these incidents. He said that those arrested from AKG Bhavan were activists of the Hindu Sena, which was not part of the Sangh Parivar. “Organisations such as Sri Ram Sena and Hindu Sena have nothing to do with the Sangh,” he claimed. However, asked about the photos released by a news website in which Hindu Sena leader Vishnu Gupta was seen along with Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Subrahmanian Swamy and Meenakshi Lekhi during an election campaign, he said that there was nothing wrong in sharing stage with the Sena leaders.

Also, when it was pointed out that Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the current BJP spokesperson for their Delhi unit, had been accused of attacking lawyer Prashant Bhushan claiming that he had made “anti-national” remarks, he said that it was “the BJP’s internal matter”.

He alleged that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was showing double standards on issues related to political violence. “Mr. Vijayan had promised us that he would control his party activists and ensure that they do not take law into their hands.

“He had also said that the police would be impartial. He has broken both the promises,” the RSS leader alleged.

He said that Sangh Parivar activists were wrongfully implicated in criminal cases and the police were taking sides with CPI(M) activists.
