Deputy Mayor P.T. Abdul Latheef informed the council that he had increased the ward-wise allocation by Rs.1 lakh. With this amendment, the total allocation for ward developments came to Rs 9.96 crore from the proposed Rs.9.21 crore.
Prof. Latheef said a sum of Rs.12 lakh each would be allocated to 27 wards while the remaining 48 wards would get Rs.14 lakh each.
He said the Corporation would allocate funds for projects if beneficiaries handed over their land to the Corporation for development works such as construction of roads and drains.
The official website of the Corporation would be updated to provide timely information related to the civic body.
Janamma Kunjunni, chairperson, standing committee on health, said the Budget had many positive recommendations on solid waste management.
A fogging machine would be introduced shortly. However, the Kozhikode Corporation faced an acute staff shortage as four vacancies of the posts of health inspectors were yet to be filled, Ms. Kunjunni said.
