Rs.1.53 crore from relief fund to be paid out today

Minister for Revenue Adoor Prakash will distribute Rs.1.53 crore, sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, at a revenue adalat at the Malabar Christian College ground here on Thursday.

He will also distribute the funds sanctioned earlier under the National Family Welfare Scheme and the Natural Calamities Relief Fund, officials said here on Wednesday.

The total amount allocated to Kozhikode taluk is Rs.92,91,000; Vadakara taluk, Rs.12,50,000; Koyilandy taluk, Rs.23,97,500; and Thamarassery taluk, Rs.23,97,500.

Kozhikode taluk is sanctioned Rs.1.50 lakh under the Natural Calamities Relief Fund; Koyilandy taluk, Rs.5 lakh; and Thamarassery taluk, Rs.3.5 lakh.

A sum of Rs.1.5 lakh will be given to relatives of those killed in natural disasters. Kozhikode taluk will get Rs.5 lakh, and Koyilandy and Thamarassery taluks will receive Rs.3.9 lakh each under the National Family Welfare Scheme.

Officials said special counters would be set up for citizens to submit complaints at the adalat.

Already, the district administration had considered 12,670 old and 405 new complaints. Nearly 9,958 applications had been settled.

The adalat would begin at 9 a.m. Additional District Magistrate K. Radhakrishnan had been made the nodal officer of the programme. The main venue of the 55th Kerala State School Arts Festival at the Malabar Christian College ground would be utilised for the adalat. The venue would have space for each taluk and a separate stall for the Collectorate.

Senior officials attached to the Revenue Department would be tasked with handling complaints at the counters. Milma and Kudumbasree would set up stalls selling tea and snacks.

Arrangements, including food, had been made for the employees also.

Kozhikode tahsildar Roshni Narayanan had been entrusted with this work.
