No protestor has been treated badly in police custody, A.V. George says.

December 08, 2014 09:09 am | Updated 09:09 am IST - Kozhikode:

City Police Commissioner A.V. George has said his team acted against the ‘Kiss of Love’ activists purely based on the existing rules and regulations of the country.

Baseless

The propagation on the contrary about the police action were baseless, he said. Speaking to The Hindu on phone, the senior police officer confirmed that no protester was arrested or treated badly in police custody on Sunday as claimed by the ‘Kiss of Love’ campaigners.

“We were not in a situation to act like onlookers when an unpermitted event disputed the public life,” he said.

According to Mr. George, the police had planned very well ahead to meet the situation and deployed sufficient number of women police officers to manage the women protesters. “The police never resorted to any physical attack against the protesters, as instructions in this regard had been passed to them in advance,” he said.
