Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar was among those who were stranded on the Thamarassery mountain pass on Tuesday morning after traffic was disrupted for more than an hour when an uprooted tree fell on the national highway following heavy rain. The Minister was on his way to Wayanad.

According to reports, the roadblock was also caused by the caving in of the earth. Local residents and activists of an environmental organisation cleared the road and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel cut the tree to partially restore traffic. There was traffic block on Monday too when trees uprooted in two places on the mountain pass.
