Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Central Committee member Elamaram Karim has alleged that lawlessness is at the pinnacle in the State, where the United Democratic Front-led government is trying to implement two kinds of justice.

The CPI(M) leader made the remark while inaugurating a Collectorate siege by the Left Democratic Front (LDF) on Wednesday seeking the resignation of Finance Minister K.M. Mani in the wake of the recent corruption charges against him.

Mr. Karim said the Finance Minister was not removed from his post or arrested even though an FIR was registered against him in the financial fraud case. “But, the experience was not the same in the case of James Mathew, MLA, who was instantly arrested after an FIR was registered against him in a case,” he pointed out.

He said the UDF-led government would not be able to enjoy a smooth sail in the days to come. The new stance of the Socialist Janata (Democratic) was openly signalling the political commotions within the front. “It will be the starting point of a big political breakup,” he said.

Communist Party of India district unit secretary T.V. Balan presided over the protest meet. MLAs C.K. Nanu, A.K. Saseendran, A. Pradeepkumar, E.K. Vijayan, K. Kunhammad, and K.K. Lathika addressed the protestors.
