Voters identity cards will be distributed to those newly added to the voters’ list within two days, District Election Officer and District Collector C.A. Latha has said.
As many as 33,100 new voters had been added to the voters’ list for the Lok Sabha polls in the district, she said on Friday, adding that distribution of identity cards to new voters had already begun.
Distribution of ‘voter slip,’ being introduced by the Election Commission from this election, would be completed by April 5. The booth-level officer of the polling station would ensure that the slip of the new voter was delivered at his/her house.
The slip would have the voter’s photograph and other details. It would be allowed as identity card at the time of voting. Facilitation centres would be opened on polling day to distribute voter slip to those who had not received it by then.
It was also announced on Friday the second phase of training programme for employees deployed for election duty would be held from April 1 to 3.
