Kothi bridge works to be speeded up

June 04, 2014 11:04 am | Updated 11:04 am IST - Kozhikode:

The second phase of building an approach road to the Kothi bridge will be completed in 18 months, and if the rain permits, earlier than that, Minister for Social Welfare and Panchayats M.K. Muneer has said.

Meeting media persons after visiting the bridge here on Tuesday, he said the two-kilometre stretch from Muhammadali beach to Chakkumkadavu would be developed in the second phase at a cost of Rs.14 crores.

Tender

“A tender was floated in February 2014, but could not be finalised due to the election. Now, Uralungal Labour Cooperative Society has won the tender and have started the work,” the Minister said. The 10-metre-wide Macadam-bitumen road will be protected with a sea wall wherever necessary.

Eight culverts and drainages were part of the project, he said.
