The State would play a major role in the formation of a third alternative at the national level and electing the LDF candidates to the Lok Sabha is the first step, said MLA, A. K. Saseendran.

Inaugurating the campaign rally of LDF candidate for Kozhikode constituency A.Vijayaraghavan here on Sunday, he said that India certainly deserved freedom from the corporate mafia and communal forces symbolised by the Congress and the BJP respectively.

The MLA said that the election was very important for the country, which is suffering from the injustices meted out by the Congress-led UPA government. “The UDF has a responsibility to explain what they have done for the country and the State in the last 10 years,” he added.

He said that the district suffered a lot for not electing the LDF candidate last time. All the developmental measures planned by the LDF government were thwarted by the UDF government that followed, he alleged. LDF candidate A.Vijayaraghavan in his address questioned the credibility of the Congress government as both the Prime minister and the Finance Minister had withdrawn from the election fray

He accused the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy of lying and cheating to achieve his ends. “But the people are going to put an end to it soon”, he added.

He stressed the need for a comprehensive development plan for Kozhikode to be converted into a major city. CPI District Secretary I.V.Sasankan presided over the function. Former ministers Benoy Viswom, Elamaram Karim, Mayor A.K.Premajam and other leaders were present.
