Muslim Youth League State president Panakkad Syed Munavvarali Shihab Thangal, Middle East-based businessman Gulfar P. Mohammedali, and poet and journalist Prabha Varma were presented the Keli Kerala award here on Monday.
The award was instituted by ‘Keli Kerala’, an institution based in Kozhikode.
Mr. Munavvar Ali was chosen for the award in recognition of his work for the youth and for upholding the principles of secularism and ethics in politics; Mr. Mohammedali for his humanitarian activities and contribution to the improvement of the education sector; and Mr. Varma for his contribution in literature, said C.P. Kunhu Mohammed, chairman of the organising committee.
Mr. Varma’s poem in verse, ‘Shyama Madhavam’, had recently won the Vayalar Award. Writer C. Radhakrishnan presented the award. T.P. Cherooppa, president, ‘Keli Kerala’, was present.
