Inspection of boats to be held for grant of kerosene permit

October 22, 2014 11:19 am | Updated May 23, 2016 03:52 pm IST - Kozhikode:

A joint team of officials attached to the departments of Fisheries, Civil Supplies and Matsyafed will carry out an inspection of fishing boats from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 16 for sanctioning kerosene permits for them.

Last year, the inspections were carried out in 16 centres. District Collector C.A. Latha said on Tuesday that if required, inspections this time would be conducted in more centres.

She said owners of fishing boats should submit multiple documents including registration certificate issued by the Fisheries Department, fishing licence, identity card, ration card, passbook of fish workers, and affidavit if they belonged to any Matysafed, along with the application form. The fishing boats should be produced at the centres between 8 a.m. and noon. The boats should leave the centres only after 5 p.m. Also, kerosene permits will not be given engines that are older than 15 years.

These decisions were taken at a meeting held at the Collectorate here. Fisheries Deputy Director Mariyam Haseena, representatives of fish workers union, and cooperative organisations took part.
