The Hindu Aikya Vedi is planning to strengthen the agitation demanding a CBI inquiry into the Marad riots. State president of the Vedi K. P. Sasikala told reporters here on Thursday that the vedi will observe the week from April 26 to May 2 as ‘Security Week’ as a continuation of the ongoing protests and to extend the protests statewide.
A delegation will meet the Committee of MPs for internal security and the Governor of Kerala to submit a memorandum demanding CBI inquiry.
The Vedi will stage a hunger strike at Marad on April 29 under the leadership of Vedi State general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan. Taluk level Commemoration meetings will be held all over the State on April 30. The president of Janata Party Subramanian Swamy will inaugurate the district level commemoration meeting to be held at Muthalakkulam in Kozhikode.
The Kerala High Court as well as the Judicial Commission that investigated the case had pointed out a deep-rooted conspiracy, inter-State involvement and terrorist links in the case. However, the State and Central governments and the two political fronts in the State had brushed away the suggestions. Now that every one is in favour of CBI inquiry, the State government should clarify the reason for not requesting it, Ms.Sasikala said.
