The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has called for a hartal in five Assembly constituencies in the district on Friday in protest against the alleged attack on the RSS district office in Vadakara recently. It will cover Vadakara, Koyilandy, Kuttiady, Perambra and Nadapuram. Essential services have been exempted.
Hartal observed
The late-night clashes between Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers following heated arguments over the assault on CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury in New Delhi ended up in a hartal at Olavanna grama panchayat and Beypore Assembly constituency on Thursday.
CPI(M) leaders alleged that their party workers were targeted by BJP activists during a protest.
BJP leaders said that the CPI(M) was deliberately trying to create political tension in the region.
