Government apathy flayed at Kozhikode district covention of BRWF

December 23, 2013 10:58 am | Updated 11:05 am IST - Kozhikode:

A district convention of Building and Road Workers Federation (BRWF), aligned to the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), came up with strong criticism against the Union and State governments for not initiating a study on the actual living conditions of the building and road workers in the State and suggesting possible steps for their wellbeing.

The union leaders said that in the last three years, the Labour Minister of Kerala did not even convene a meeting of various trade unions to discuss labour issues and address the growing concerns of labourers on the pending welfare programmes. BRWF State president A.C. Jose, who opened the convention, said there was no coordinating mechanism for the distributing grants and welfare funds among the targeted labourers.
