Financial assistance of Rs.50 lakh distributed

: Financial assistance of Rs.50 lakh was distributed to select beneficiaries on Thursday under Janasabha — a public interaction programme by Minister for Panchayats and Social Justice M.K. Muneer.

People from Puthiyara sector were covered on the third day of the programme, which formally began in the city on April 18.

New development projects estimated to cost Rs.65 lakh were announced in the Janasabha, which was held at the Puthiyara S.K. Cultural Centre.

Kalathil Abdulla, chairman of Kerala State Handicapped Persons Welfare Corporation, was the chief guest.

As part of the mass contact programme, two separate sittings by the Kerala State Women’s Commission and the Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights were held on Thursday.

Women’s Commission member Noorbina Rasheed and Child Rights Commission member Nazir Chaliyam were present during the sitting.

Complaints settled

Officials said the Women’s commission settled 56 complaints from the Kozhikode South Assembly constituency during the one-day sitting.

No fewer than any 19 complaints were settled by the Protection of Child Rights Commission.
