One more person died of suspected dengue fever here on Tuesday, even as fever cases were reported to be on the rise in the district.

Balakrishna Moolya, 70, a resident of Ethadkka near Badiadkka, was afflicted with fever and had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru over the last few days. He died early on Tuesday morning.

However, District Medical Officer (DMO) A.P. Dinesh Kumar said he could not immediately confirm the actual cause of the death, as the man had taken treatment out of the State.

Stating that there had been no let up in the number of people approaching various hospitals in the district and outside owing to viral fever, Dr. Dinesh Kumar urged people to take maximum protection by wearing covered dress to escape from mosquito bite.

Stating that none of the four persons, whose deaths were attributed to dengue fever, died while undergoing treatment in hospitals in the district, Dr. Dinesh Kumar said the effected people could be well treated in government hospitals rather than taking them to other institutions outside the State with the hope of getting expert treatment.
